Last night at 11 pm we had no idea that today we would be at a Yankees game! We happened to come across some tickets that were a great price compared to everything else we had looked at! Baseball is HUGE out here - it takes a lot of work to find enough tickets together for a decent price! Our kids were GREAT! Despite the heat (which has set in now) - it was in the 90's + humidity (a lot of it) - they had as good of a day as we did! Luckily our seats were in the shade - we were 12 rows from the top - really not to bad of seats overall! I was surprised that Bella even hung in there - she stayed awake the entire game!
This was taken from our van window - the new stadium (opening next year) is right next to this old one! I'm sure you know this, (but I didn't) it is the last year for the Yankees to play in this stadium!
Bo is a BIG Derik Jeter fan - he tells me that Jeter is the best player for the Yankees! Here's Mike and Bo supporting JETER!! Bo watched the whole game intently! Cheering and chatting with Mike about this player used to play here - and that player has had this many home runs! It was the highlight for Bo (and Mike) so far this summer! Look how dang cute they are!!
Even to non-sports fan this is a beautiful sight!! I literally got tears in my eyes being in such an amazing stadium - singing the Star Spangled Banner - watching shots of the Statue of Liberty on the screen at the game! We brushed up on "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" before the game so the kids could belt it out during the 7th inning stretch! At the end of game they play, "New York, New York!" Everyone in the stadium is sings along - a great experience for our family!
The perfect end to a perfect day!! When we got back to our van we had a note on the door! Mike had parked a little close the people next to us in our hurry to not miss the first few minutes of the game! Instead of slashing our tires (which we hear is the norm for such an offense) - they wrote us a love note that said one simple word, "ASSHOLE!!"
*By the way the Yankees won 6-3; winning Kansas City!! Great game! We saw a couple home runs - and a few foul balls were hit right around our section!

The swimming pool we were at, is the new Washington City Rec Center.

I want to go to a Yankees game so badly!!! Your family is having so much fun. Maybe Mike will have to set me up with this job for next summer. I could sell alarm systems and see all the sights. My boys would love it!!!

I saw your comment on my blog and had to get right over and tell you we are only about 15 minutes from Palmyra! Would you guys come and stay with us??! There's nothing like going to a live baseball game and to be at Yankee stadium, that's pretty cool, especially in its final year! Looks like you had tons of fun.

GOOOO YANKEEES!!!!! You guys are going to be dead before you make it back home! I think you might be able to win a new Guinness World Record for the MOST fun activities had by a family in the shortest amount of time! We might take your advice and spend our life saving on some tickets to get out there!

OMG, you guys look like you are having such a blast, I am jealous. Ya the parks here are great. WE are excited for you to come back too, but have fun while you can. We don't have too much planned this summer, we are more sporadic type, so who knows. WEll have fun.
