Palmyra/Hill Cumorah Pagent - July 15

After our long drive to Niagara the short 2 hour drive to Palmyra seemed like nothing!! This is all of us (including Aunt Ruby, Ann Dee and their family) - at the Wittmer farm! It's just about 20 minutes outside of Palmyra.

5 of the Wittmer brother's are named as witnesses who actually saw the golden plates - one was shown by the Angel Moroni and the rest from Joseph Smith. Upstairs in the cabin pictured above is where the last 116 pages of Book of Mormon were translated. Joseph came here to escape persecution - the picture of the room (below) is where the translation took place! Also, in this cabin were held some of the first church meetings - because of it's larger then normal size it was able to hold up to 60 people!

This was right outside the back door of the Wittmer cabin in the apple trees. I LOVE this picture - look how cute they are!!

This was the home where Joseph Smith's family lived - it was very small and humble! This was where the Angel Moroni appeared to Joseph!! Years later they moved down the road a very short distance to a larger home and after several years moved back to this one!
